New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Five people were arrested in the Janakpuri area here for allegedly stealing vehicles, police said Monday.

The accused were identified as Vipin (39), Raj Bhatia (50), Sujan Singh (40), Ravi Kumar Madan (31) and Motiur Rehman (39), they said.

On Thursday, police received information that accused, previously involved in several theft cases, would come near the district centre in Janakpuri, officials said.

Subsequently, a trap was laid and the accused were arrested, a senior police officer said.

Five cars and tools used in stealing vehicles were found in their possession, he added. PTI NIT

2) Six arrested for vehicle theft in west Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Six people were arrested for allegedly stealing vehicles in west Delhi, police said Monday.

The accused were identified as Nabi Alam, Nasir, Nasir, Jaan Mohammad, Jamshed and Shekh Manohar Hasan, they said.

The accused were arrested on Sunday and two scooters and three mobile phones were seized from them. PTI NIT

3) Two arrested in Uttam Nagar for stealing vehicles

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Two men were arrested in Uttam Nagar here for allegedly stealing vehicles, police said Monday.

The accused, Neeraj Tiwari (30) and Dharmender Kumar (47), were nabbed on Thursday near the Vipin Garden area, they said.

Four cars and seven two-wheelers were recovered from their possession, an official said. PTI NIT

4) Three suspected gangsters arrested for plotting to kill murder case witness

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Three suspected members of the Anil Dujana and Randeep Bhati gang were arrested for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to eliminate the main witness of a murder case, police said Monday.

The accused, identified as Sumit Nagar (27), Sanoj Kumar (39) and Arvind Kasana (28), are residents of the Mayur Vihar area in east Delhi, they said.

On July 30, 2018, police had received information that two bike-borne men had opened fire at a person in Mayur Vihar area while he was going on scooter, officials said.

Nagar was arrested Friday in connection with the firing and on his instance, Kumar and Kasana were also nabbed, they said.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Randeep Bhati had directed Vikas Kasana to eliminate Sandeep as he was the main witness in the 2013 murder case of Chaman Bhati, police said. PTI AMP

5) One arrested for supplying illicit liquor

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) A man was arrested for allegedly supplying illicit liquor here, police said Monday.

The accused, identified as Ravi Chhikara, was arrested on Sunday from Bawana, they said.

Chhikara was involved in supplying illicit liquor in various clusters in central Delhi, Rohini and outer Delhi. A huge quantity of alcohol was seized from him, along with the vehicle used in the commission of the crime, a senior police officer said.

One loaded country-made pistol was also found in his possession, he said. PTI AMP

6) Delhi Police organises walkathon

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) The Delhi Traffic Police Monday organised a walkathon at the India Gate here participated by over 1,000 volunteers, including students, officials said.

According to an advisory issued by police, Taj Hassan, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), flagged off the walkathon at 9.30 am.

More than 1,000 volunteers, including school and college students and corporate employees participated in the walkathon which culminated at the Shastri Bhawan, it stated.
