Kolkata, Aug 19 (PTI) Nigerian striker Mohammed Gambo was today announced as the fourth foreign recruit of East Bengal in their pursuit of a maiden I-League title in the upcoming season.
The 30-year-old has made four appearances for the Nigeria national team including an outing against Brazil in the 2013 Confederations Cup.
Syrian attacking midfielder Mahmoud Al Amna was retained ahead of the start of the season before the club signed midfielder Kassim Aidara from I-League champions Minerva Punjab and Costa Rican defender Jonny Acosta.
Ahead of the season's first derby against Mohun Bagan in the local league on September 2, the red-and-golds are reported to be in talks with Spanish coach Alejandro Menendez Garcia.
The 52-year-old has worked with the Real Madrid youth team and he is working with Spanish team Burgos at present.
With talks at an advanced stage, it was learnt that Alejandro might join with two assistants and might be in overall charge of East Bengal's senior and junior teams which means current coach Bastab Roy and veteran technical director Subhas Bhowmick may be on their way out.
