Puri (Odisha) [India], June 2 (ANI): Union Minister and BJP Lok Sabha candidate, Dharmendra Pradhan and leader Sambit Patra met family members of the deceased who lost their lives in a firecracker explosion in Puri.

The incident happened on Wednesday night during lord Jagannath's Chandan Yatra.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, "Some days ago in Puri, a tragedy happened. A lot of people lost their lives due to the firecracker explosion. Some were injured and admitted to the hospital. I met with family members of the deceased."

Pinak Mishra, SP Puri said, "Several people were injured in a fire incident while bursting firecrackers. A rescue team reached the spot and all the injured were sent to SCB Hospital, Cuttack."

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief at the incident and said that he has directed his chief administrative secretary and the district administration to ensure proper treatment of the injured.

The state government will also be bearing the expenses of those who have been injured from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, he added.

"Sorry to hear about the accident near Puri Narendra pool. The chief administrative secretary and the district administration have been directed to ensure proper treatment of the injured and monitor the system. All the medical expenses of the injured will be borne from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Wishing everyone good health," Patnaik said in a post on 'X'. (ANI)
