Chennai, July 5 (PTI) Tamil Nadu on Monday crossed the grim milestone of 25 lakh coronavirus cases with the addition of 3,715 fresh infections, while the toll mounted to 33,059 with 54 deaths.
While the state's first Covid case was reported on March 7, 2020, it saw its overall tally touch one lakh on July 3 that year.
The state went past the 10 lakh cases mark on April 19 this year and breached 20 lakh on May 28.
With the new additions, the overall tally on Monday stood at 25,00,002, according to a Health Department bulletin.
Recoveries were slightly on the higher side compared to the new infections.
As many as 4,029 COVID-19 positive patients were discharged following treatment today, aggregating to 24,32,017 so far.
Active cases dipped to 34,926 today.
Coimbatore district reported the highest number of 436 new cases and seven deaths, followed by nearby Erode with 330 cases and three fatalities.
Chennai saw 214 new cases and five fatalities.
About 28 of the 38 districts saw fresh cases in less than 100.
