Chennai, Jul 11 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday laid foundation stones for sports infrastructure projects worth Rs 64.43 crore across the state, including stadiums in Madurai and Karur.
He also laid the foundation for synthetic hockey turfs in Madurai, Tiruvannamalai, and Ariyalur districts via video conference from the Secretariat in Chennai.
Hostels for sportspersons are planned to be built in Coimbatore and Salem, an official release said.
Additionally, Udhayanidhi presented a cheque for Rs 20 lakh from the Tamil Nadu Champions Trust Fund to the principal and students of Queen Mary's College in Chennai, to further strengthen the sports infrastructure at the women's college, the release added.
