Lawyers Strike to Continue Till October 26
As the Orissa High Court Friday adjourned the hearing of a writ petition filed by a laywers forum to October 29, advocates of Cuttack city also decided to extend their ongoing strike till October 26.
Cuttack, Oct 12 (PTI) As the Orissa High Court Friday adjourned the hearing of a writ petition filed by a laywers forum to October 29, advocates of Cuttack city also decided to extend their ongoing strike till October 26.
The High Court will remain closed for Durga Puja from October 15 to 25.
"It has been decided to continue the strike till October 26," Orissa High Court Bar Association General Secretary Satyabrata Mohanty said.
The lawyers of Cuttack city have been boycotting their respective courts and tribunals from August 29 following a police assault on one of the city lawyers on August 28.
As many as four FIRs have been registered in this connection, including three against the concerned lawyer. All the four cases are currently being investigated by an IGP-rank officer.
The striking lawyers have approached the High Court seeking a judicial enquiry.
