Chandigarh, Aug 7 (PTI) Maximum temperatures stayed below normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana with rain lashing few parts of both the states.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 30.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, the Met department said.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded maximum temperature at 30.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal while Bhiwani, Hisar and Karnal recorded maximum at 30.7, 28.7 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively, up to seven notches below normal.

Maximum temperature in Narnaul settled at 31.4 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum was 27.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded their respective high at 26.6 and 29.6 degrees Celsius, up to six notches below normal.

Patiala recorded rainfall of 18 mm, it said.

The Met department has forecast light to moderate rain at many places in both the states in next 24 hours.
