Kolkata, May 7 (PTI) The Trinamool Congress was mulling legal action against BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha for accusing its leaders of "threatening" State Election Commissioner A K Singh over the conduct of the upcoming panchayat polls.
"This is nothing but a drama to create unrest. What will they do if we go to the court for yesterday's incident? (Sinha accusing TMC leaders of threatening the SEC)," a senior TMC leader said, without naming Sinha.
Sinha had yesterday alleged that Singh has been receiving threats from the TMC over conduct of the panchayat election, and that his mobile phone was being tapped and land line calls recorded.
"I am not taking anyone's name but people today have lost political courtesy, which is not good for the nation. People must think before speaking their mind. They must take care of this courtesy because elections will come and go but this will remain," she said.
The TMC leader also said she never supported "killing" of any party's worker for political reasons.
"Let it be TMC or any party. I do not want any killing. I have never supported that," she said, stating that 14 TMC supporters have lost their lives in the run up to the panchayat polls.
"Those who do not want the elections to take place are creating nuisance. They are damaging vehicles, looting and killing common people," the veteran party leader added. PTI
