Kolkata, Sep 4 (PTI) The West Bengal government Tuesday denied rumours doing the rounds on social media that it has instructed all departments to stop promotion of its employees till the Lok Sabha due in 2019.

Promotions are being granted to its employees as per their existing service conditions and would continue as per existing norms, the state finance department said in a statement here.

"There is no iota of truth in what has been circulated on the social media. The circulation has been done with mischievous intent in order to create confusion amongst the employees," the statement said.

It is also stated that the annual increment of 3 per cent due on July 1 every year to state government employees and other organisations would continue as usual.

"The 3 per cent increment due this year from July 1, 2018 has already been released with the pay of all employees. Subsequent increments will be released as per existing norms," the statement added.
