‘Ramayana’ Unseen Visuals Showcase High-Scale VFX and Fantasy Creatures

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the presentation featured exclusive scenes that have not yet been released to the public. The preview combined newly revealed sequences, behind-the-scenes insights, commentary from producer Namit Malhotra, and concluded with the official teaser trailer.  Strict security protocols were enforced during the screening, with attendees prohibited from using mobile phones or recording devices.

Among the primary highlights of the unseen footage were key creature designs and mythical entities central to the story, including a one-eyed daitya (demon) and a prominent bear-like creature. The visual effects, spearheaded by Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG, were presented to demonstrate the film's global production standards.

Exhibitors Praise Scale, Draw Comparisons to Hollywood Classics

Reactions from the trade sector were overwhelmingly positive, with several attendees drawing direct comparisons to landmark Hollywood fantasy franchises.  "We were strictly prohibited from using our mobile phones or recording any part of the presentation," an exhibitor who attended the event told Bollywood Hungama.

Describing what was shown inside the room, the trade source added: "The major highlights were the various creatures in the film, including the one-eyed daitya. A bear-like creature was also given prominence. We were amazed by the vision, imagination and VFX. Ramayana truly looks like a global Indian film. Its effects are at par with those of any Hollywood movie, like The Lord Of The Rings. The trailer had already excited the exhibitors, and this footage preview has added to the hype for us".

The source further detailed that the preview functioned partly as a making-of documentary featurette. "The asset was also like a making-of video. In between, quotes from producer Namit Malhotra were incorporated, in which he spoke about his ambitious endeavour. Finally, the Ramayana trailer, which has been out since July 30, formed the last part of the 15-minute preview".

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by producer Namit Malhotra alongside co-producer Yash, Ramayana features a prominent ensemble cast. Ranbir Kapoor leads the epic as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi playing Sita and Yash portraying Ravana.
