Gully Boy landed in a fresh controversy earlier in the day. A music artist Sajeel Kapoor whose stage name is Sez on the Beat said his song Mere Gully Mein was used in the film but he is yet to be paid. Or so it seemed. Sez on the Beat is the original composer of the newly released song Mere Gully Mein. His Facebook post read, "But this is also the sad reality of how the industry works in this country, even after contacting the original label several times, I haven't been paid for my work on this track despite having a contract and my publishing split being agreed and assigned."

But the artist has not clarified that his scathing reveal was not directed towards makers of the film Gully Boy or the reuse of Mere Gully Mein. In an update to the original post, he said, "Ankur Tewari and Excel Entertainment have done all they can to help me and I wanted to thank them for trying to get this all resolved,"

He revealed, "The issue lies with the original label who have licensed out my composition on several occasions and have failed to pay me my due share every single time."

The new song from Gully Boy titled Mere Gully Mein was released yesterday. The song credits do mention DIVINE, Naezy AND Sez on the beat as composers.

Gully Boy features Ranveer Singh playing the role of a rap artist who rises to fame from the streets of Mumbai.
