Zeenat Aman, the name spelt glamour, sensuality, beauty, aspirations and a whole lot of braveness. She had a great body, great height, beautiful features, some fab movies...any actress would love to be her. But apart from all that, she also had some of the grooviest songs in her kitty which still finds a place in clubs, albeit in remix versions. Zeenat Aman to Play Sakina Begum in Arjun Kapoor-Kriti Sanon’s Panipat
But what sets Aman apart than her contemporaries was, at a time when Bollywood was clinging to stereotypes for heroines where they danced around trees, Zeenat Aman went sexy and sensual. Hindi cinema believed in labels and such sensuality was restricted to only ganster's molls or cabaret dancers. Zeenat Aman broke the mould and told everyone that a hero can fall for a sexy siren as well. She wore bikinis, dresses and sarees alike without caring a damn and that makes her one of the ballsy woman in the history of Indian Cinema.
Coming back to her songs, those who have not heard or watched her move like a dream in movies, here're are five of them.
Dum Maaro Dum (Hare Krishna Hare Raam)
Zeenat Aman entered this big bad world of Bollywood as Dev Anand's sister in this film. She played a hippie who becomes a collateral damage of her parents' separation. This song has her with her fellow hippie friends smoking the night out singing to this immortal song. It's our favourite!
Chura Liya Hain (Yaadon Ki Baraat)
Yaadon Ki Baraat is perhaps the one film which has such a heady mix of every genre of Hindi cinema that it leaves you satiated. Even today, you will find yourself drawn to this majestic movie where three brothers lose and find each other. Chura Liya Hai is the epitome of love confession. Zeenat in that dress and the guitar which she hardly used in the song, was a dream! We are yet to see a song which can make us go dreamy like this.
Haye Haye Ye Majboori (Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan)
Zeenat laments about Manoj Kumar's lack of interest in her in this song and you will feel every emotion that she is feeling. It's one of the least appreciated songs of the actress. You need to watch this film to know why saree is the most sensual attire ever! Trust only her to make the garment so desirable!
Satyam Shivam Sundaram (Satyam Shivam Sundaram)
Many remember this movie only because of Zeenat's sensuality but this was much more than that. Despite having such an attractive voice and body, her character gets dissed by her husband when he sees her face. The song where she is devoting herself to Lord Shiva is extremely alluring.
Aap Jaisa Koi (Qurbaani)
Now this is a no-brainer. The moment somebody asks about a Zeenat Aman number, Aap Jaisa Koi pops up in your head. If the music was refreshing and new, she was electrifying in that red dress!
So what's your favourite song of this diva? We know there are many other songs which the lady has immortalised but these are ones which are still relevant and funky. Don't you agree?
