‘Golden Star’ Ganesh Opens Up on Two-Year Career Gap and Future Release Plans

Kannada actor Ganesh, popularly known as 'Golden Star', has expressed his disappointment regarding his uncharacteristic two-year absence from the big screen. Ganeshs Unplanned Delays and Eager Fans

Historically accustomed to appearing in theatres at least twice a year, Ganesh has not had a theatrical release since Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi. He shared that the most common questions he encounters from the public are, "Where have you been? What's happening?"

The actor explained that the recent slowdown is reflective of a broader challenging phase within Kannada cinema, where even star-led films are facing delayed release schedules. However, he emphasised that he has remained active behind the scenes.

"I currently have four films on hand," Ganesh stated. "Once they release, I'll begin work on new projects. The planning is underway. Brinda Vihaari is likely to release first, and Pinaka is also complete. Both films should arrive this year."

Ganesh Explains Factors Behind the Production Gaps

According to Ganesh, the delays are primarily tied to the larger scale and ambitious production requirements of his upcoming lineup rather than a lack of work. He noted that while he prefers a consistent release cycle, control over timelines ultimately shifts when a film's budget and scale expand.

"I never want long gaps between releases. My wish has always been to have at least two films a year," he said. "But sometimes things don't go according to plan. When a film is mounted on a bigger scale, it's difficult to dictate timelines. As actors, we can only request. The final decision rests with the makers."

The actor admitted that the situation has been frustrating, as he initially expected his next project to debut within eight months of Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi. Despite the disappointment, he maintained a pragmatic perspective on the logistics of film distribution. "Sometimes you have to think from the producer's perspective as well. Delays happen. But more films should be made, and more films should reach audiences."

Ganesh's upcoming slate spans multiple genres, moving away from uniform themes to offer a variety of narratives:

Pinaka – A fantasy-based project that required a longer production schedule due to its scale.

Brinda Vihaari – A relationship-centric drama that is fully prepared but currently waiting for an optimal release window.

Yours Sincerely Ram – A journey-based film.

Thamma Sukhagamana Bayasuva – A family drama.

Addressing the timing of Brinda Vihaari, he acknowledged that while a birthday-week release would have been ideal, technical delays pushed the date back. He remains unconcerned about theatrical competition, stating that the production team is simply focused on finding the best possible date.
