Bihar, March 23: In yet another case of medical apathy in the country, a man in Patna was forced to carry his ailing child on his arm after being allegedly denied a stretcher. The man was allegedly denied stretcher to carry his ailing child to the hospital. After being denied of a stretcher by Patna Medical College and Hospital, the man carried his child in his arms with an oxygen cylinder.

Many such incidences have been reported from across the nation where people have been carrying bodies of their loved ones on their shoulders after being denied of hospital services. In August 2016, a tribal man in Odisha walked nearly 10 km with his daughter, carrying his wife's body on his shoulder, after he was denied a mortuary van from a government hospital. In another similar incident, a tribal of Bantara village under Gandhana Gram Panchayat had to take his mother's body on his shoulder in Jaipur in Rajasthan.

In 2017, a similar incident took place in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh where a man wept as he carried his 15-year-old son's body on his shoulder to a hospital. The man wasn't provided with a stretcher or an ambulance by the hospital. A desperate Udayveer took his son twice to the hospital from his village which is seven km away. The father hoped for a cure but the doctors did not even offer the services of a hearse or an ambulance.

Eight of the 20 disqualified AAP MLAs had moved the high court on 23 January against the 20 January presidential order disqualifying them for holding office of profit as ‘parliamentary secretaries’ in the Delhi government.
