Ahmedabad: 9-Year-Old Boy Beaten by Principal, Teacher Over ‘I Love You’ Note

A nine-year-old Class 4 student was allegedly beaten by his school principal and a teacher at a private English-medium school in Ahmedabad after he wrote an “I love you” note to a girl in his class, according to a complaint filed by his family. Ramol police have registered an FIR against the two school staff members and begun an investigation, TOI reported.

‘I Love You’ Note Found in Classroom

According to the complaint, the incident took place on September 19. The boy reportedly gave a piece of paper carrying the words “I love you” to a girl from his Class 4 section. The note was later found inside the classroom, following which the teacher questioned students to identify who had written it. Parents Allege Physical Assault

The child's parents alleged that the teacher and principal reprimanded the boy and subsequently assaulted him. The complaint states that the child was allegedly hit on his palm with a scale. After returning home, the boy reportedly told his mother about the incident. Police Register FIR

Ramol police have registered a case against the teacher and principal under relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. Police are investigating the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The allegations have also raised questions about how schools handle children's behaviour and disciplinary issues, particularly when dealing with young students. Any further legal action will depend on the findings of the police investigation.

Broader Concern Over School Discipline

The Ahmedabad case comes amid continuing scrutiny of disciplinary practices and child safety in schools. Authorities have previously taken action against schools over lapses involving student safety and compliance with education regulations.
