A massive search-and-rescue operation was launched on Friday afternoon after a 17-year-old college student was feared drowned in the Arabian Sea off Aksa Beach. The missing teenager has been identified as Mazid Khan, a resident of Kandivli. The incident occurred around 3:00 PM when Khan and two of his friends entered the water between INS Hamla and JJ Point. While his two friends managed to safely navigate the strong currents and return to the shore, Khan was reportedly swept away by the high tide. Maharashtra: 16-year-old Boy Drowns at Mumbai Beach.

Local authorities were alerted immediately, prompting a coordinated multi-agency response. A fire brigade rescue team from Andheri commenced searches at nearby Marve beach, while naval divers from Colaba and teams from INS Hamla focused on the waters off Aksa beach. Officials noted that strong coastal currents could have carried the teenager toward the Madh or Manori areas. Mumbai Shocker: Youth Drowns Near Juhu Koliwada Jetty While Taking Photos With Friends.

According to fire brigade station officer Ashish Kesarkar, who is leading the operation, the stretch where the teenagers entered the water is privately owned. Because of this, the area lacks active lifeguard coverage, and the municipal lifeguards stationed at the main public beach cannot monitor that section of the coast. The search operations were temporarily suspended at 8:00 PM due to low visibility and are scheduled to resume at daybreak on Saturday.
