Local law enforcement authorities stated that Singh's daily diary report was officially registered at the Dhanola police station around 10:20 pm after he met with the Station House Officer. When he returned the following morning to collect the paperwork, he was asked to wait briefly during an ongoing official meeting, at which point he consumed the toxic substance.
Senior police officials confirmed that a formal inquiry is underway to examine the corruption allegations levelled against the station munshi and SHO Manjit Singh.
