Bengaluru Man Stabs Professor Daughter Over Marriage, INR 40 Lakh Demand

A private college assistant professor was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her father inside the institution in Bengaluru, Karnataka, following a prolonged dispute over her marriage and finances, police said. The accused, identified as Nagendra, has been arrested and further investigation is underway.

The incident took place on July 25 at around 3 pm when Nagendra visited the college, claiming he wanted to meet his daughter, Lakshmi Durga. College staff allowed him into the Head of Department's chamber, where she was present.

According to police, Nagendra allegedly attacked Lakshmi Durga with a knife, stabbing her multiple times in the abdomen, chest and neck before fleeing the campus. She sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Dispute Over Marriage and Money

During the process, he allegedly demanded INR 40 lakh from the prospective groom's family, claiming he had spent heavily on his daughter's education and career.

Investigators also said he allegedly wanted Lakshmi Durga's monthly salary to be handed over to him after marriage.

Accused Arrested

Following the attack, police registered a case and arrested Nagendra. Authorities said further investigation is in progress to determine the full sequence of events leading to the incident.
