Bengaluru: Train Accident Victim's Severed Head Found on Cricket Ground

A severed human head discovered on a cricket ground in Bengaluru’s Varthur area on Wednesday morning triggered a police investigation that quickly led authorities to a nearby railway track, resolving the initial shock surrounding the incident. A security guard first spotted the head early on July 29 on the cricket ground premises and immediately notified the police control room. Officers from the local Varthur police station launched an investigation and were soon joined by personnel from the Baiyappanahalli Railway Police. The breakthrough came when railway police officers informed local investigators that they had already registered an unnatural death report (UDR) after discovering a headless body on a railway track approximately 300 meters away from the sports ground. Preliminary police investigations indicate that the victim was struck by a passing train on the night of July 28, causing the head to be severed upon impact. Authorities suspect that a pack of stray dogs subsequently dragged the severed head from the tracks to the neighboring cricket ground. Police have identified the deceased as 25-year-old Vishwanath, a native of Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, who worked for a private firm in Bengaluru.
