The Haryana Police have suspended two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and a Home Guard personnel after a 30-year-old bone cancer patient accused them of physical assault and s*xual abuse inside a police station. Following the allegations, authorities registered a First Information Report (FIR) and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to lead an inquiry into the case, including allegations of sodomy.

Altercation at Routine Checkpoint Escalates

According to the official complaint, the man, who is currently undergoing treatment for bone cancer and works at a local bank, was riding his motorcycle home on the night of June 17 when he was stopped by police at a routine checkpoint on Indri Road. A verbal argument reportedly broke out after checkpoint personnel objected to a piece of cloth covering the rider's face. Haryana Shocker: Volleyball Player Dies After Being Assaulted in Faridabad; Family Accuses Girl’s Relatives of Kidnapping and Torture.

The complainant alleged that the personnel slapped him, confiscated his mobile phone, and forcibly transported him to the Ladwa Police Station. He further stated that the personnel continued to physically assault him at the station despite being explicitly informed about his severe medical condition. The bank employee also alleged that the personnel mocked his illness and subsequently subjected him to an unnatural s*xual act.

Internal Investigation and Counter-Claims

Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police (SP) Chander Mohan confirmed that an FIR has been filed against ASI Sanjeev Kumar, ASI Rajender Kumar, and Home Guard Sumit on charges of assault and misconduct. SP Mohan stated that he personally visited the Ladwa Police Station to question the accused personnel. However, the SP noted a conflicting account from the night of the incident, stating that the complainant was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and had verbally abused the police personnel during the initial vehicle check.

Medical Disagreements and Procedural Delays

Following the encounter at the police station, the man's physical condition deteriorated significantly. He was initially treated at the Ladwa Community Health Centre before being transferred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital in Kurukshetra. Dr Sarah Aggarwal, Principal Medical Officer at LNJP Hospital, confirmed that the patient remains admitted with a fractured arm. The ongoing investigation, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nirmal Singh, has hit procedural hurdles regarding medical evidence. Although a specialised board of doctors was constituted at LNJP Hospital for a fresh medical examination, the complainant declined to undergo the additional evaluation. Haryana Shocker: Father Kills 5-Year-Old Son, Later Dies by Suicide in Faridabad Over Domestic Dispute.

According to Dr Aggarwal, the patient maintained that his earlier examinations at the community health centre and LNJP Hospital were sufficient. The complainant has also declined to record an official statement before the SIT. Police officials stated that further disciplinary and legal actions remain pending as they await the final forensic report and the conclusion of the SIT's findings.
