CJP Protest: JP Nadda, Rahul Gandhi Visit RML Hospital to Meet Injured Protesters After Lathicharge

Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Tuesday to meet protesters and police personnel injured during a lathicharge and violent clashes at Jantar Mantar. The high-profile hospital visits come in the wake of Monday’s "Sansad Chalo" march organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over alleged irregularities and paper leaks in the NEET examinations, which escalated into severe confrontations between demonstrators and security forces.

At the hospital, Nadda held discussions with medical officials to review treatment arrangements for the victims, while Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra interacted with injured youth, offering support and sharply criticizing the police action. Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered at least five First Information Reports (FIRs) at Parliament Street and Connaught Place police stations against unidentified individuals for stone-pelting, breaching barricades, and damaging public property. Officials reported that more than 118 police personnel and around 60 protesters were injured, with one female student currently receiving treatment on a ventilator at RML Hospital.

Despite the police action, CJP supporters led by party founder Abhijeet Dipke reclaimed the Jantar Mantar protest site, pledging to continue their sit-in until their core demands are met. The group is demanding the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and compensation for affected students.

Concurrently, activist Sonam Wangchuk announced that he will extend his indefinite hunger strike from Safdarjung Hospital, where he was forcibly relocated by police. Wangchuk stated his fast will continue until student representatives are granted a hearing with parliamentarians regarding systemic reform in national testing. Though Health Minister Nadda noted that preliminary discussions with a student delegation were held in a cordial atmosphere and appealed for calm, opposition leaders have mounted pressure on the government, demanding a dedicated debate in Parliament over the examination system.
