The dry conditions come as the southwest monsoon continues to withdraw from northwest India. Delhi-NCR, including nearby areas such as Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad, is expected to remain largely dry, with no major rainfall activity forecast in the immediate period. According to the IMD's local forecast, similar conditions are likely to continue over the next few days. Delhi could see maximum temperatures of around 34 degrees Celsius on September 23, before the daytime temperature eases slightly to around 33 degrees Celsius on September 24 and 25. The weather pattern in Delhi contrasts with several parts of eastern and southern India, where the IMD has forecast significant rainfall activity. A developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy to extremely heavy rain to parts of Odisha and other regions over the coming days.

The IMD has forecast the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning and squall-like conditions over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi between September 25 and 27.
