A 28-year-old newlywed woman died under suspicious circumstances in Delhi's Lodhi Colony, with her family alleging that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands. Police have launched an investigation and said all possible angles are being examined.

New Delhi, July 5: A 28-year-old newlywed woman died under suspicious circumstances in Delhi's Lodhi Colony, with her family alleging that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands. Police have launched an investigation and said all possible angles are being examined.

The deceased, identified as Aakriti, was found lying on the ground outside a building at NDMC Flats, Palika Kunj. It is not yet clear from where she fell. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Her family has alleged that she was subjected to dowry harassment and physical abuse after her marriage. They claimed the incident was not a suicide but a murder.

Aakriti's brother alleged that her husband and in-laws were trying to portray a murder as a suicide. Delhi Police said proceedings have been initiated under Section 196 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a magisterial inquiry has been sought.

Officials added that all aspects of the case, including the circumstances leading to Aakriti's death, are being investigated. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
