According to data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a total of 79 idols were immersed across the city's designated natural and artificial water bodies by noon on the first immersion day.

The initial count of 79 total immersions included:
- 71 household Ganesh idols
- 3 prominent public Ganesh mandal idols
- 5 goddess Hartalika idols
Civic officials confirmed that the smooth process proceeded without any reported safety incidents or disruptions.
Festival Background and Arrangements
The 12-day festival commenced a day earlier on September 14. Under various traditions, devotees immerse Lord Ganesh idols after one-and-a-half days or five days of worship. To manage the high volume of participants, municipal authorities have established extensive arrangements across Mumbai, deploying lifeguards, medical teams, and special infrastructure at major natural beaches, waterfronts, and newly set-up artificial ponds.
