Gang-Rape at MLA’s Farmhouse in Amroha: Woman Invited for Religious Trip, Assaulted by 2 UP Cops, 2 CRPF Personnel

A woman from Haryana has alleged that she was gang-raped at a farmhouse in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district after being invited for a visit to religious places. Four men-two Uttar Pradesh Police personnel and two CRPF personnel-have been arrested in connection with the case, police said. The alleged incident took place in the Hasanpur area on the night of September 22. The woman, a resident of Fatehabad in Haryana, contacted police around 6 am on Wednesday, following which teams from the Hasanpur and Rajabpur police stations reached the farmhouse and took her to safety.

Woman Allegedly Lured On Pretext Of Religious Trip

According to Amroha Superintendent of Police Lakhan Singh Yadav, the woman was contacted by a female acquaintance on September 20 and was asked to meet CRPF personnel Mohit for a visit to religious places in Amroha. She allegedly met Mohit in Sonipat on September 21. The two then travelled to Meerut, where CRPF head constable Lalaram Yadav joined them, according to the police account reported by multiple outlets. On the evening of September 22, the two men allegedly took the woman by car towards Hasanpur. They reportedly picked up Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Tomar on the way. The three then allegedly took her to a farmhouse located along the Atrasi-Hasanpur road and rented two rooms.

Woman Alleges Assault At Farmhouse

According to the complaint, UP Police Head Constable Pramod arranged food and liquor at the farmhouse. The woman alleged that Mohit, Lalaram Yadav and Sanjay Tomar assaulted her one after another. She further alleged that Pramod later entered the room and attempted to assault her. She managed to push him away, locked herself inside the room and searched online for a police helpline number, according to the complaint. She subsequently contacted police around 6 am on Wednesday. Police teams from Hasanpur and Rajabpur reached the farmhouse after receiving the call and arrested all four accused.

Four Accused Arrested, FIR Registered

Amroha SP Lakhan Singh Yadav said an FIR was registered on the woman’s complaint under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita concerning abduction or enticement and gang rape. All four accused were arrested and remanded in judicial custody, according to the police. The local UP Police sub-inspector, Sanjay Tomar, was suspended and departmental proceedings were initiated against him. A report concerning the two CRPF personnel was also sent to senior CRPF authorities for further disciplinary action, the SP said.

The farmhouse where the alleged incident took place was reportedly linked to an independent MLA from Uttarakhand, according to the Hasanpur Kotwali in-charge. However, police have not publicly confirmed the ownership of the property. Investigators have questioned the farmhouse manager as part of the ongoing probe. The allegation of a connection to the MLA concerns the property; the reports cited do not allege the MLA’s involvement in the incident.

Akhilesh Yadav Reacts To Amroha Case

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav reacted to the case in a social media post, criticising the Uttar Pradesh government and demanding strict action against those accused. He described the alleged incident as a stain on the police force and called for strong action. His remarks were part of the political response to the case, while the criminal investigation remains with the police. The investigation is ongoing, with police examining the circumstances surrounding the woman’s arrival at the farmhouse, the allegations against the four accused and the property’s ownership.
