Patna, September 24: The water level of Ganga river flowing through Lakhisarai in Bihar is increasing day by day, raising concerns of disease outbreak in the region. The low-lying areas along the river have been submerged as the water level has risen. According to a tweet by ANI, locals informed that the water has entered into hundreds of houses in more than six villages in Patna. Moreover, the crops have been destroyed and there is a risk of an outbreak of diseases. The locals further informed that there is no satisfactory response from the administration.

In the wake of the current situation in the state, the district administration in Patna issued an alert since September 21 for the low lying areas as River Ganga is flowing above the danger mark.  On Monday, the water level rose by 1.5 inches, the district administration said. On Monday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said around 16 lakh cusec of water was being currently discharged through Farakka barrage to ease out a further spread of floodwaters in different parts of the state alongside Ganga river. Officials have been deployed to stop the public from entering into the low-lying areas. Narmada Ghat to Krishna Ghat region has been seized as a precautionary measure.
