A seven-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, raped, and murdered in Ghaziabad's Raj Nagar Extension, police confirmed on Saturday, July 11. The victim's body was recovered in the early hours of Saturday from the second basement of an under-construction mall. Law enforcement authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation and have detained several suspects for questioning, as reported by TOI.

Discovery of the Body

The Nandgram police station received an emergency notification regarding the discovery at approximately 1:00 AM on Saturday. Senior police officials and forensic experts arrived at the under-construction structure overnight to secure the area and gather physical evidence.  The victim was the daughter of migrant laborers from Bihar. The family has been living in temporary, makeshift shelters near the commercial construction site for the past two years. Ghaziabad: Car, Scooter Fall Into Massive Ditch as Road Caves In Near Atal Chowk After Heavy Rain (Watch).

Details of the Incident

According to statements provided by the victim's family, the suspects allegedly lured the young girl into the unfinished building by offering her chips, snacks, and soft drinks. The victim’s father reported finding his daughter's body unclothed in the lower level of the structure, exhibiting severe injuries to her head and face.

While initial reports raised questions regarding a potential fall, police sources indicated that the nature of the injuries suggests the child may have been struck with a blunt object, such as an iron rod. Legal Action and Investigation

The Ghaziabad police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges filed include kidnapping, murder, gang rape, and common intention. Due to the age of the victim, authorities have also invoked stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for the Nandgram circle, Priyashri Pal, stated that a thorough investigation is underway. "Senior officials inspected the crime scene, and a forensic team was also called in," Pal said.

Pal noted that multiple individuals have been picked up for interrogation to reconstruct the timeline of the crime. She added that while the case is being actively investigated under rape and murder statutes, medical legal findings are required to conclusively determine the full extent of the assault.
