A 16-year-old boy died after allegedly being buried under several tonnes of gravel while unloading a truck at a construction stockyard in Gurugram's Sector 113 early Friday, July 3, police said. The teenager, a resident of Bajghera originally from Uttarakhand's Nainital district, was working as a helper for a contractor when the incident occurred.

Police said the minor had arrived at the stockyard in a Rajasthan-registered truck carrying sand and gravel for supply to construction sites. An FIR has been registered against the truck driver under charges of causing death by negligence, while the investigation is ongoing. ‘Mera Muh Tod Diya, Stop These Goons’: Gurugram Road Rage Video Goes Viral, 2 Students Arrested.

According to police, the incident took place between 12:40 am and 1 am after the truck reached the stockyard. The driver allegedly asked the boy to get down and open the rear tailgate before unloading the material. As soon as the tailgate was opened, part of the gravel reportedly fell onto the teenager, trapping his legs underneath.

Police said the victim repeatedly called for help, but the driver, who was inside the cabin, allegedly did not hear him and activated the truck's hydraulic tipper, unloading the remaining gravel and burying the boy. Gurugram: Man Arrested for Allegedly Setting Lover on Fire After She Discovered He Was Married.

Sandeep Turan, Public Relations Officer of Gurugram Police, said: “Other workers raised alarm and alerted the police control room, following which emergency response vehicles reached the spot. Police officers and workers managed to pull him out soon by removing the gravel.” The injured teenager was rushed to a private hospital in Palam Vihar, where he later died during treatment.

Following a complaint by the victim's father, Bajghera Police registered an FIR against the truck driver under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators said the body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.

Police said no action has been taken against the contractor under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, at this stage. Officials added that appropriate legal provisions may be invoked after further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are examining how the accident occurred and whether safety protocols were followed during the unloading process. Further action against those responsible will depend on the findings of the investigation.
