Guwahati, November 14: A ten-year-old girl was seriously injured in an explosion in toy bicycle that she was playing with. The mysterious blast in toy bicycle occurred at Manipuri Basti in Assam's Guwahati on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Devani Shree, a student of St. Nichols High School. Her mother was also injured in the explosion, who was nearby.

According to the police, the girl found the toy bicycle, which reportedly was made in China, on the road near her house. Neighbours said the toy bicycle was wrapped in a packet and the girl took it inside her home to play with it. The girl was immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors said one of her eyes was damaged due to explosive particles entering it. Her face suffered multiple injuries and two of her fingers were severed. The mother was injured on her legs, the doctors said.

Police said its teams with forensic experts have rushed to the spot and have begun investigations to find out the nature of the explosive and who may have kept it at the spot. The cause of the blast was not immediately known.
