The suspect, identified as Naveen Kumar, reportedly attacked his wife, Manasa, with a gym dumbbell after accusing her of maintaining unauthorized contact with other men via her mobile phone.
A 39-year-old man was arrested in Hyderabad after allegedly killing his wife with a dumbbell following a dispute over her frequent phone conversations with unidentified persons, police said. The incident took place in Shivashankar Colony in Fatehnagar under the Sanathnagar police station limits, as reported in TOI. According to investigators, the accused allegedly suspected his wife of speaking to unknown individuals over the phone and accused her of having an extramarital relationship. The argument reportedly escalated on Tuesday night, during which the man allegedly attacked her with a dumbbell, causing severe head injuries.
Police identified the victim as Sasmita, a native of Odisha who had been living with her husband in Hyderabad. Following the assault, she was rushed to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. Officials said the accused, identified as Chandrabhan, was taken into custody soon after the incident. A murder case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

Police said preliminary findings point to prolonged marital tensions linked to suspicion and repeated arguments.
