Jaipur, February 15: Liquor shops across Jaipur will remain closed indefinitely starting February 16 after the Raj Liquor Welfare Society announced a citywide protest over alleged police harassment and the demand to extend official closing hours.

Society president Nilesh Mewara said liquor vendors have decided to shut their outlets and stage demonstrations in response to what he described as unnecessary police action. According to him, several shop operators have faced pressure and interference from police personnel even before 8 pm, despite operating strictly within the government approved timings. Mahashivratri 2026 Dry Day: Will Bars and Restaurants Serve Alcohol on February 15? The association claims that vendors are complying with all legal norms, yet are being troubled during business hours. Calling the situation unfair, the society has demanded that the official closing time for liquor shops in Jaipur be extended by two hours. Vendors argue that longer operating hours would help improve sales and reduce last minute rush, while ensuring smoother operations. Bihar: Woman Posts Rose Day Video With Husband in Munger, Lands in Trouble Over Liquor Ban Violation.

As part of the agitation, liquor contractors across the city will close their shops from February 16 and participate in protests until their concerns are addressed. The Raj Liquor Welfare Society has termed the move an indefinite closure, signaling that business operations will not resume until authorities respond positively to their demands.

The shutdown is expected to impact liquor availability across Jaipur, especially with multiple vendors participating in the coordinated protest. Authorities have not yet issued an official response to the association’s announcement.
