Authorities at Hong Kong airport on Tuesday suspended all departure check-ins after pro-democracy protesters blocked the facility for a second day, but some flights were still arriving and taking off.
"Terminal operations at Hong Kong International Airport have been seriously disrupted as a result of the public assembly," the airport authority said in a statement.
"All check-in service for departure flights has been suspended since 1630hrs (0830 GMT). Other departure and arrival flights for the rest of the day will continue to operate, and airlines will provide arrangements for passengers who have not completed the departure process."
On Monday, National Congress leader Digvijaya Singh warned the Centre to be careful in dealing with the Kashmir matter or else India may end up losing it. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Monday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Maharashtra for imposing section 144 in the flood-affected Kolhapur. District authorities have begun relief operation in Kohlapur as floodwater started to recede. Section 144 was imposed in the area to avoid any confusion during the relief work.
Due to waterlogging in several areas, many trains have been cancelled. According to an ANI update, 14 trains plying on August 13 cancelled due to waterlogging and breaches at various locations. 13 trains on Aug 13, 8 trains on Aug 15, 5 trains on Aug 16, 3 trains on 17 and 18 August & 1 train on August 19 cancelled too.
