Lucknow, November 30: A day after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received a legal notice for calling Lord Hanuman a 'Dalit', National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) Chairman sparked another row by calling Lord Hanuman a 'tribal'. According to reports, Nand Kumar Sai claimed that Hanuman was a ‘ gotra’ among tribals, and was not a Dalit. According to a tweet by ANI, Sai was quoted saying that there is a Hanuman 'gotra' among tribals, like there is ‘Giddha’ gotra or ‘Reechh’. Sai further added saying there is a ‘Tigga’ gotra as well in which ‘Tigga’ means ‘vanar’ or monkey. There are various tribal communities and separate gotras. The ‘Garud’ and ‘Reechh’ were part of Lord Ram’s army when he went to war. Hanuman was definitely not a Dalit,” said Nand Kumar Sai, the commission chairperson said. On Wednesday, a right-wing group in Rajasthan had sent a legal notice to Adityanath and asked him to apologise within three days for allegedly calling Lord Hanuman a Dalit. Adityanath's comment triggered a political row prompting the Congress to blame the BJP for its "dual face". Reports inform that Adityanath, during a poll rally in Malakheda of Alwar district, had said, "Hanuman was a forest dweller, deprived and a Dalit. Bajrang Bali worked to connect all Indian communities together, from north to south and east to west".
