The accused, a senior section engineer with the Indian Railways, was arrested on Saturday morning, July 4, after remaining absconding since the FIR was registered. Police said the case is under active investigation based on the survivor’s complaint and supporting evidence gathered so far. According to the complaint, the woman married into the family in November 2023. She alleged that she faced harassment from her husband and sisters-in-law soon after marriage, while her father-in-law allegedly ignored her distress.

The complainant stated that she left the marital home once but later returned in April 2024, after which she alleged that the harassment continued. She further told police that she was eventually able to seek help and contact authorities, following which she was rescued.
Initially, police registered the case under charges related to harassment and molestation. Later, after reviewing evidence, a rape charge was added to the FIR.
Accused Arrested After Being on the Run
Police said the main accused had been absconding since the FIR was filed and was arrested based on inputs from informers.
Investigators are also examining allegations against the husband and sisters-in-law, who have been named in the case under provisions related to dowry harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation.
Police said the case is under investigation and further action will depend on corroboration of statements, forensic evidence, and witness accounts. Authorities have not yet made further comments on the case, citing ongoing investigation.
