Modi Government Allocated Rs 27,000 Crore To Boost Rail Infrastructure In Uttar Pradesh, Says Piyush Goyal

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said that the Modi government is working on boosting infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. The railway minister claimed that the Centre has increased capital expenditure for the state manifold.

Lucknow, September 5: Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said that the Modi government is working on boosting infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. The railway minister claimed that the Centre has increased capital expenditure for the state manifold. “During 2009-2014, Rs 5,500 crore were invested on new rail infrastructure in UP while Modi regime allocated Rs 27,000 crore for building facilities in the state by 2019,” reported The Times of India quoting the Goyal.

On Tuesday, Goyal inspected the ongoing construction at Gomtinagar railway station. During his interaction with media, he said that only 25 perecnt rail infrastructure was increased in the state, while the passenger load increased 15 times. He further added that the freight demand grew by 12 times in UP. The railway minister also claimed that there has been a massive increase in development of infrastructure, amenities, services and commercial growth in railways since the Modi government took charge in 2014.

The project of remodelling the Gomtinagar railway station by constructing six tracks, 10 platforms and two-storey terminal building. Shopping malls and multi-level parking are also part of the projects. The project would cost around Rs 1,800 crore and is likely to be completed by 2020.
