Mumbai: 17-Year-Old Student Injured by Flying Iron Rod During Vidyavihar Road Work (Pics)

A 17-year-old student was injured after an iron rod reportedly became dislodged and struck him on the head during demolition work for road widening in Vidyavihar East, Mumbai, on Tuesday, August 25, officials said. The incident took place at around 3.50 pm on Station Road, opposite R N Gandhi School. The injured student, identified as Dhiren Jain, was taken to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar and admitted for treatment.

According to officials, Jain was walking along the road when the iron rod reportedly flew off during the ongoing demolition work and hit him. Doctors said his condition was stable. The incident occurred while demolition work was being carried out as part of road-widening activity in the area. According to preliminary information, an iron rod became dislodged during the work and struck Jain on the head as he was walking along the road.

The incident was reported at around 3.50 pm. Officials said Jain was subsequently admitted to Rajawadi Hospital for further treatment. 15-Year-Old Girl Injured In Juhu Hit-And-Run

Meanwhile, in another incident, a 15-year-old girl was injured after an unidentified two-wheeler rider allegedly crashed into her from behind while she was walking to her tuition class in Juhu on August 18.

According to the Juhu police, the incident took place between 8.20 am and 8.30 am near Gulmohar Road, opposite Starbucks, NS Road No 1 in Vile Parle west. The girl, a school student, was identified as Samika Kaur, police said.

Police said the unidentified rider was allegedly travelling at high speed when the two-wheeler hit Kaur from behind. She suffered injuries to her head, leg and hand in the collision. The rider allegedly fled the spot without providing medical assistance or informing the police.

Following a police complaint lodged by the girl’s father, Jasraj Singh Ghai, 48, a case was registered at Juhu police station under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Sections 184, 187 and 134(a) and 134(b). Police have initiated a technical investigation to identify and trace the unidentified rider. Efforts were underway to nab the culprit, said an official.

The two incidents occurred in different parts of Mumbai and involved separate circumstances. In Vidyavihar, a student was injured during road-widening work after an iron rod reportedly became dislodged.

In Juhu, police are investigating an alleged hit-and-run involving a teenage school student and an unidentified two-wheeler rider. While investigations into both incidents are at different stages, the cases have drawn attention to safety around roadwork zones and the need for responsible road use.
