Mumbai: Man Poses as Engineer on Matrimonial Site, Arrested for Raping Doctor
Police in Maharashtra's Palghar district arrested a 34-year-old man on Monday for allegedly creating a fraudulent persona on a matrimonial portal, tricking a 30-year-old doctor into meeting him under false pretenses, and committing sexual assault.
A man from Nalasopara was arrested by Waliv police on Monday for allegedly raping a 30-year-old doctor from Vasai after posing as an engineer on a matrimonial website, according to a Times of India report. Police allege that the accused misrepresented his identity and used the matrimonial platform to establish contact with the woman before persuading her to meet him.

According to the report, the accused presented himself as an engineer on the matrimonial website despite allegedly not having that professional background.
Police said he subsequently developed contact with the doctor and arranged to meet her. The report states that he also portrayed himself as a "playboy" while interacting with her. The circumstances of the meeting eventually led to the alleged sexual assault, following which the woman approached the police. Waliv Police Make Arrest
Waliv police arrested the accused on Monday in connection with the complaint.
