Mumbai's suburban rail network will see a mega block on Sunday, September 6, 2026, with the Central, Harbour, and Western lines all affected as railway authorities carry out maintenance work on tracks, signalling systems, and overhead equipment. Commuters travelling on these routes are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, as several services will be diverted, short-terminated, or suspended altogether during the block period.

Central Line: CSMT-Vidyavihar Block From 10.55 AM To 3.55 PM

On the Central Line, the block will affect the CSMT-Vidyavihar Up and Down slow lines between 10.55 am and 3.55 pm. Down slow line services departing CSMT from 10.48 hrs to 15.45 hrs will be diverted onto the Down fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar, halting at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla stations before rejoining the Down slow line at Vidyavihar. Harbour Line: Services Suspended From 11.10 AM To 4.40 PM

The Harbour Line block will run from 11.10 am to 4.40 pm, covering the CSMT-Bandra/Chunabhatti Up and Down routes. Down Harbour line services to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel leaving CSMT from 11.16 hrs to 16.47 hrs, and those to Bandra/Goregaon leaving CSMT from 10.48 hrs to 16.43 hrs, will remain suspended. Up Harbour line services for CSMT leaving Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi from 9.53 hrs to 15.20 hrs, and those leaving Goregaon/Bandra from 10.45 hrs to 17.13 hrs, will also remain suspended. No More ‘Jai Ho’ on Mumbai Coastal Road? To ease the disruption, special services will run between Panvel and Kurla at a 20 minute frequency during the block period. Harbour line passengers have also been permitted to travel via the Main Line and Western Railway from 10.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs during the block.

The Transharbour Line and Uran Line will see no block on this day.

Western Line: Churchgate-Mumbai Central Block From 10.35 AM To 3.35 PM

On the Western Line, the Up and Down Fast lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central will be blocked from 10.35 am to 3.35 pm for maintenance of track, signalling systems, and overhead equipment. During this period, all Fast line trains will be operated on the Slow lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central. Some Up and Down suburban services will remain cancelled, while certain Churchgate-bound trains will be short-terminated and reversed from Bandra or Dadar.

Commuters on the Central, Harbour, and Western lines are advised to factor in extra travel time on Sunday and check for real-time updates before starting their journey.
