In a major pre-monsoon conservation effort, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) announced a mandatory 10 per cent water cut across the city, effective Monday, May 25. The aggressive rationing comes as usable reserves at the Morbe dam, the city's primary source of drinking water, fell below the critical 20 per cent threshold. - Mondays & Thursdays: Belapur and Vashi nodes will experience complete evening water supply suspensions.
- Tuesdays & Saturdays: Nerul and Koparkhairane are scheduled for evening cuts.
- Wednesdays & Sundays: Turbhe and Ghansoli evening lines will be deactivated.
- Fridays: Evening supply in Airoli will be entirely halted to align with systemic maintenance down-times managed by the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran system.
In the Digha node, supply interruptions will fluctuate depending on real-time infrastructure maintenance schedules. Because these peripheral suburban networks rely fundamentally on pipeline allocations routed directly from the main Morbe system, water supply to these areas will be completely shut down every Friday to facilitate vital pipeline maintenance and system pressure stabilisation.
