Last year, the Maharashtra government had written to ED, which had sealed Roopanya, seeking permission to destroy the multi-crore property on Kihim beach. The accessories collected from the mansion will be up for auction. Seized items including a Buddha statue, a jacuzzi and a chandelier will be handed over to ED, said district collector.

The demolition work started on January 25, 2019, but it was time-consuming because of RCC construction. Later, engineers from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University (BATU) conducted a survey and gave their nod for demolition using controlled blasting. Nirav Modi's mansion was seized by ED following his involvement in Rs 13000 crore Punjab National Bank fraud case.
