Lucknow, January 29: A tragic incident in Noida's Sector 122 has left a couple dead and their three young children fighting for their lives after the family reportedly consumed poison. On Thursday, January 29, the police discovered the victims inside their residence after receiving a tip-off. While the husband and wife were pronounced dead shortly after being found, the children were rushed to a nearby medical facility in critical condition.
The Noida police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Preliminary reports suggest the case may be an attempted mass suicide, though a formal cause of death is pending post-mortem results. Forensic teams have secured the scene, collecting samples of food and other substances found in the home to determine the exact nature of the poison used. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ram Badan Singh, the incident came to light when a family member was unable to reach the couple and alerted the police. Upon entering the premises, officers found the five family members unconscious. The couple was identified as 35-year-old Vinod and his 32-year-old wife, Rekha (names changed for privacy/legal compliance).
Initial questioning of neighbours and relatives has not yet revealed a clear motive. There were no immediate signs of a forced entry or a struggle within the house, leading investigators to focus on internal family stressors. A suicide note has not been recovered at this stage, and police are currently scanning the couple's mobile phones and financial records for potential leads. The three children, aged between five and twelve years, are currently undergoing intensive treatment at a local hospital. Medical officials said that the next 24 to 48 hours will be critical for their recovery. The hospital has deployed a team of pediatric specialists to monitor their vitals, as the specific toxin ingested has caused significant internal distress.
The District Magistrate has been briefed on the situation, and social welfare officials have been alerted to provide support for the children should they recover. Relatives from the couple’s native village have been informed and are reportedly traveling to Noida to assist with the investigation and the care of the survivors.
