Raja Raghuvanshi Reborn? Family of Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Victim Names Newborn After Murdered Son, Cites Coincidence
The family of Raja Raghuvanshi, murdered during his Meghalaya honeymoon, has named a newborn ‘Raja’, believing he has been reborn. Citing a priest’s prediction and a striking timing coincidence, the family says the baby has brought comfort after months of grief.
Indore, March 31: In an emotional turn of events, the family of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, has welcomed a baby boy and named him “Raja,” believing he has been reborn into the family.
The child was born to Raja’s elder brother Sachin on Sunday, bringing a sense of comfort to a grieving household still coping with the tragic loss. The belief in rebirth stems from a claim made by Sachin, who said a priest from the Kamakhya Temple had predicted during the 13th-day ritual that Raja would return to the family, as his death was unnatural.
Sachin highlighted a striking coincidence in timing. “Raja died on the eleventh day of the lunar fortnight at around 2:40 pm, while the child was born on the same day at around 2:42 pm,” he said, reinforcing the family’s faith in the belief. Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, also expressed her emotional connection with the newborn. “Whatever that transpired was God’s will. Raja’s birth has brought some relief to our family after months of grief,” she said. She further added, “When we call out to him as ‘Raja,’ he looks at us as if he recognises us from before.”
The tragic case dates back to May 23, 2025, when Raja was hacked to death near Weisawdong Falls in Meghalaya. His body was recovered days later, sparking a high-profile investigation. Police later arrested his wife Sonam, her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, and three others in connection with the murder.
