According to family members and eyewitnesses, Bhavani repeatedly complained of severe labour pain but did not receive timely assistance from doctors or nursing staff. Unable to bear the pain any longer, she stood beside her hospital bed and delivered the baby before any medical personnel could attend to her. The family alleged that the newborn fell to the floor immediately after birth and suffered a head injury. They claimed nurses arrived only several minutes later, while the mother suffered excessive bleeding, triggering panic among other pregnant women in the ward. Family Protests, Police Called To The Spot
The incident sparked protests by the woman's relatives at the hospital, prompting police to reach the facility and calm the situation. Officers spoke to both family members and hospital authorities.
Hospital Denies Negligence Charges
Hospital authorities, however, denied the allegations of negligence. According to them, the woman did not inform the medical staff that she had entered active labour, and doctors and nurses would have immediately attended to her and shifted her for delivery had they been alerted in time. The hospital said both the mother and the newborn were provided medical treatment after the incident and that the baby's condition was being closely monitored.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, with the allegations of medical negligence remaining under inquiry.
