Mumbai, January 9: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is undertaking a project to repair 83-year-old Worli sea-face. The project for the construction of the coastal road and to make bigger walking space will cost. Rs 2,000 crore. According to a report published in Mumba Mirror, the road will connect south Mumbai to the distant western suburbs. The promenade also has a statue of the famous cartoonist R K Laxman. An extra lane will be constructed inside the walking to interchange for the coastal road. The project is expected to be completed by 2022. The project will also include one-km Sealink which will connect the coastal road to the Bandra-Worli Sealink. Mohan D Machiwal, chief engineer, coastal road department told Mumbai Mirror that alternate seaside walkway will be ready before acquiring the promenade so that people should not face any problem for jogging and morning walk. Meanwhile, Worli Seaface Residents’ Association will start a movement to oppose the acquisition. According to the organisation, the promenade which BMC is constructing will be 700 meters away.
