Karnataka’s Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has expanded its enforcement drive across quick-commerce and food delivery supply chains in Bengaluru, sealing a major Zepto warehouse and conducting inspections at a Zomato Hyperpure facility.
A Zepto warehouse in Bengaluru’s Hoskote area was sealed after Karnataka food safety officials found multiple violations, including unhygienic food handling and storage conditions, non-compliant labelling and alleged misbranding. The action comes amid a wider food safety enforcement drive in the city, with officials also inspecting a Zomato facility on Wednesday, according to a report.
Zepto Warehouse Found in Poor Hygienic Condition
Officials conducted a special inspection at a Zepto warehouse operated by Nippon Express in Hoskote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district. The inspection reportedly found organic waste, discarded wrappers and bottles, accumulated dirt on the floor and empty cardboard boxes inside the facility. The inspection also flagged issues involving food handling and storage, along with labelling and product-branding requirements under food safety regulations. The facility was subsequently sealed by the authorities.

The action against Zepto is part of an intensified food safety enforcement campaign being conducted across Bengaluru. Following the Zepto action, food safety officials inspected Hyperpure by Zomato, a facility on Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru. Officials examined food items at the warehouse as part of the ongoing enforcement drive.
As of the latest report, the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration Department had not issued a statement on the outcome of the Zomato inspection. Therefore, no violations should be inferred from the inspection itself.
