The ruling BJP and the Congress were caught in a close fight in Madhya Pradesh, where Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is seeking a record fourth term. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ramlal Rautel is leading in Anuppur against Congress candidate Bisahulal Singh.

Bhopal, December 11: The counting of votes forĀ Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election will be held on Tuesday amid high security. The state went to poll on November 28 and 65.5% voters exercised their franchise just over 7% less than the figure in the previous polls. The total voter turnout was 75%, an election official said. In Kotama,Ā Dilip Jaiswal is the BJP candidate whileĀ Suneel Saraf is from the Congress party. InĀ the 2013Ā polls,Ā Manoj Kumar Agrawal of the Congress party had won the seat.

The BJP has this year fieldedĀ Narendra Maravi of the BJP againstĀ Phundelal Singh Marko of the Congress party inĀ Pushprajgarh (ST). In 2013 polls,Ā Phundelal of the Congress had won the seat.
