Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Eid in his speech. Wished people in advance and said that the government will ensure that the people in Jammu and Kashmir get to celebrate Eid to their heart's content. "The government is taking care that people should not have any problem in celebrating Eid in Jammu and Kashmir. Our companions who live outside Jammu and Kashmir and want to return to their homes on Eid, the government is helping them in all possible ways", said PM Modi.

"I also want to say to every countryman that the concern of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, we are all concerned, their happiness, sorrow and their suffering are no different from us," said PM Modi.

Ladakh has the potential to become the biggest center of Spiritual Tourism, Adventure Tourism and Ecotourism. Ladakh can also become a major center of solar power generation. Now there will be proper use of its potential and new opportunities will be created for development without discrimination.

PM Modi requested Hindi, Tamil and Telugu film industry to invest in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The Prime Minister said that this will help the youth to find employment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address said that Jammu and Kashmir can be a state once again. However, Ladakh will continue to be a Union Territory, said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir to have public representatives, MLAs and a chief minister just like in the past. Requests governor to focus on block development, so that elections cann take place soon.

PM Modi said that institutes such as IITs, IIMs, AIIMS And other important institutes to benefit Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Modi lay emphasis on economic development and said that vacancies will be filled and jobs provided to the youth in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

New Delhi, August 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on Thursday, days after Article 370 was abrogated cancelling the special status and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two separate Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. PM Modi was present both in the Rajya Sabha and  the Lok Sabha while the Bill was presented in the upper house and lower house of the Parliament. The last time PM Modi addressed the nation was during the general elections on March 27, 2019. The occasion was India demonstrating anti-satellite missile (A-Sat) capability when it shot down a live satellite.

Reports have said that the Prime Minister would address the nation today, on Thursday. Earlier, state broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) had earlier announced that Modi's address would begin at 4 PM. But it later deleted the tweet. And then the update said that PM's address would begin at 8 PM tonight.

PM Modi, in a series of tweet, hailed the Parliament for passing the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 and the abrogation of Article 370. "Together we are, together we shall rise and together we will fulfil the dreams of 130 crore Indians! A momentous occasion in our Parliamentary democracy, where landmark bills pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir have been passed with overwhelming support!" tweeted PM Modi.
