ECI Rejects Claims Of Internal Rift
The Election Commission has rejected suggestions that the reported notes and objections point to a split within the poll panel. It has maintained that differing views and written observations are part of its internal deliberative process, and that decisions on key issues, including SIR, were taken with the approval of all three commissioners. The reported objections have given fresh momentum to Opposition criticism of the poll body and brought the functioning of the three-member Election Commission under increased political scrutiny. The Congress has demanded greater scrutiny of the panel's functioning, while the BJP has rejected the allegations and defended the Election Commission.
