Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday, July 21, visited the ongoing student protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, where he met CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke to enquire about the condition of injured students and discuss the status of the agitation. The meeting comes as the protest continues despite an earlier Parliament march, with organisers reiterating that it will not end until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
Sharing details of the visit, Abhijeet Dipke posted on X, "NCP Chief @pawarspeaks visited Jantar Mantar today to enquire about the police brutality and express his concern for the injured students. During the meeting, Dipke briefed Pawar on the developments surrounding the protest and outlined the group's key demands.
According to Dipke, the demands include the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, withdrawal of cases registered against students, withdrawal of FIRs filed against protesters across the country, compensation of INR 1 crore for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide, and the release of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.

'The Protest Will Continue'
Dipke said the agitation would continue until its demands are addressed. Recalling his conversation with Pawar, he said the veteran leader asked what assistance the protesters required. "Sir, we don't need help. I will tell Anish whatever is needed." Pawar also asked how long the protest would continue.
Responding to the question, Dipke said: "We have been here for 31 days. It has been a month. The government has become angry because of what happened yesterday. What were we demanding? We were only demanding Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation."
Opposition Leaders Extend Support
Dipke said several Opposition leaders have expressed support for the student movement. He stated that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were also expected to meet him during the protest, while leaders from Maharashtra had stood with the agitation since its beginning.
"The opposition in Maharashtra has been with us since day one. Be it Sharad Pawar or Uddhav Thackeray, everyone is with us." He added that Supriya Sule had also contacted the organisers and said security barricades prevented Pawar from entering certain areas of the protest site.
According to Dipke: "Sharad Pawar was very worried about the students. All the people will come. Many people came and went."
Protest Continues at Jantar Mantar
The student agitation has continued at Jantar Mantar following the Parliament march, with organisers maintaining pressure on the Centre over their demands relating to examination reforms and accountability.
Protest leaders have said the demonstration will continue until the Union government responds to their demands, including the resignation of the Education Minister and action on cases registered against protesters.
