What is the Story (Katha) and Significance of Utpanna Ekadashi?

The Utpanna Ekadashi is considered to be the birth anniversary of Goddess Ekadashi – who is believed to be one of the powers of God Vishnu. It is said that she was born out from God Vishnu to destroy demon Mur, who wanted to kill God Vishnu when he was sleeping. Hence she is considered to be one of the many powers of God Vishnu. All the fasting that people observe is dedicated to Goddess Ekadashi only. As per a legend, the Utpanna Ekadashi Vrat is most useful and significant for a woman who is looking for a child, and also for people who desire to attain Moksha.

What is the Puja Vidhi of Utpanna Ekadashi or How to Celebrate Utpanna Ekadashi?

Fasting is observed for two consecutive days, and people break their Utpanna Ekadashi Vrat after the sunrise on the next day. This ritual is called Parana. It is said that one has to break their fast before the Dwadashi (time mentioned above) is over. Also, taking a holy dip in a river is also considered to be auspicious on this day.
